On 19/1/2026, the Winter School on Artificial Intelligence for Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment began at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, marking an important opportunity for discussion on the increasingly central role of artificial intelligence in the teaching, learning and assessment of foreign languages.
The opening of the Winter School was particularly significant for our project, which was mentioned by Anna Solé Mena, Senior Expert for Multilingualism at the European Commission, during her keynote speech. The project was presented as a meaningful example of an Erasmus+ KA220 Higher Education initiative, highlighting how artificial intelligence has become a structural component of language education and a key, increasingly widespread theme within European projects.
The reference to the work carried out emphasized the contribution the project aims to make to the innovation of learning, teaching and language assessment practices in higher education, in line with European priorities on digital transformation, teaching quality and multilingualism.
This is a recognition we particularly value, as it strengthens our motivation to continue along the path we have undertaken.
